My childhood was spent in a traditional stone-walled ‘wada’, where the earthen courtyard was sprinkled with water every morning, and the fragrance of freshly-wet soil wafted in the wind. That’s how I developed an early attachment to nature. I developed an aptitude for drawing since childhood, hence I began to sketch.
While travelling through different provinces of India, I had the opportunity to observe various faces and facets of nature. In nature, there is simply a passionate burst of colours – the sky, trees, rivers, roads, mountains, valleys, their varied hues and shades, their shapes and textures.
Likewise in the villages – the huts, temples, people, cultures, fields, cattle, shepherds, folk art – constantly inspire me to draw.
